In Hickman County represents 15 years of documentary work in Hickman County, Tennessee. The filmmakers, Joe and Elizabeth Seamans, live in the urban Northeast, but have a deep connection to rural Tennessee — Elizabeth’s mother was born in Hickman County and her family has lived and farmed there since 1824.

Fifteen years ago, as cultural divisions in this country became deeper and more bitter, they went South to experience the "other side" and to document what they saw.

The Film In Hickman County is the culmination of that effort.

This website also houses other work they have made there — including a one-hour art installation called On Cane Creek.

More short films and interviews will be posted here in the future.
